L. Pontius (Playwright) is a playwright based in New York City, born and raised in the Mid-West and educated around the country, most recently receiving his MFA in Playwriting from the University of Texas at Austin . Some of his produced work includes: Umbrella at the David Mark Cohen New Works Festival; On Sunday Morning by Collaboraction in Chicago; American Autobahnics at the Minnesota Fringe Festival; and The Connection is Made and Running Out of Time were both ACTF Regional Ten-Minute Play Finalists. He is a member of Unbound: Playwrights for A New Century , a New York based playwriting collective dedicated to the development of new work. His play Umbrella was read in New York by Alchemy Theatre Company of Manhattan. Also, Working Man's Clothes Productions of New York produced a reading of his play Boom Vang. A monologue from The Cost of Mathematics was published in Audition Arsenal and Bitchin' Devil Horns was published in Manhattan Theatre Source's Spontaneous Combustion Anthology . Pontius has been commissioned to write a 15-part drama series for HUMTV, a Pakistani Cable channel. His other series, a 13-part mystery/thriller, is currently airing in Pakistan. In addition to the series, Pontius has written several episodes for an anthology series titled New York Stories, which were filmed in New York City and aired in Pakistan. Upcoming: Alchemy Theatre Company of Manhattan will produce Umbrella Off-Broadway in April of 2008 at TheatreRow on 42nd Street.
